The urethra of women who have stress incontinence is often not properly supported. This loss of support can be caused by damage at the time of delivering a baby. Or, it may be caused by damage to the pelvic support from repeated straining; for example, from repeated heavy lifting. A mechanical support device (pessary) can be inserted into the vagina to support the urethra. When it's fitted properly you don't feel it inside and it stops the bladder from leaking. |
